About the Vacancy
The advertisement for a new Priest-in-Charge is now on the Diocesan website, with a date of 14th July for the return of applications. We now hope for some positive responses!
Support to St James’ Warden
Roddie Macrae wishes to continue in the post but is having to cut back on some of his duties. The Vestry is therefore keen to spread these duties over a wider range of people. Much is already being covered informally, with sincere thanks to those who help in this way, but it would be fairer on them if we could now formalise the situation. In particular, it would be good to reinstate a rota for sidespeople at the Sunday services at St James’; volunteers to compile and serve on such a rota would therefore be welcome. Responsibility for keeping the Hall clean and tidy falls mainly to those using it, but it would also be good to have someone volunteer to keep a regular eye on the state of cleanliness, especially before services – as well as on the state of the plant tubs outside. Please contact Robin if you feel you might be able to help in one of these ways.
Forward Dates
Sea Sunday (9th July) : This will be celebrated at our 10.30 service at St James’ that day, with a special collection. We all owe seafarers a great debt of gratitude and this is our annual opportunity to remember them, to give thanks for their work and to contribute to their welfare.

Tuesday 15th August : The popular Ten Strings duo from Sicily (violin and guitar) will be returning to give a concert in St James’ Church. (Plans for a further series of small-scale concerts during the winter and spring are shaping up well.).
Sunday 1st October : There will be a special Harvest Festival service at St James’ at 10.30, followed by a Harvest Lunch in the Hall.
Friday 20th October : A talk on Astronomy will be given at St James’ by a noted local expert. More details in due course.
Saturday 9th December : This will be the date of the 2017 Annual General Meeting.
