Newsletter Update & Reminder of Holy Week Services

Gift Day
A reminder that our Annual Gift Day will be on Saturday next, 24th March.  The Vestry are aware that these are difficult economic times for many people and we deeply appreciate the support the congregation continues to give to our finances on a regular basis.  The Gift Day provides a further opportunity for those who can to “help make a difference”, especially as we still need to build up our income so as to provide a solid base for Julia Boothby’s ministry with us.

St James’ Church will be open from 10am on the 24th for donations to be received, with tea and coffee available in the Hall.  If you qualify for Gift Aid, please use one of the white envelopes available in both churches and fill it in accordingly.  If you can’t be there on the 24th, Gift Day donations can also be made at any of our services or given to our Treasurer, Reg Holder.

Soup Lunch
Saturday 24th also sees the last in the current series of Soup Lunches, so from 12 noon onwards the Church Hall will switch to providing the justly famous selection of tasty home-made soups, together with cheese and biscuits and tea or coffee.  Donations to church funds as usual.  The last Soup Lunch raised some £170 and we hope to break that record this time, so come along – and bring your friends!

Holy Week and Easter
An updated list of our services on Palm Sunday and through Holy Week to Easter Day is below.  We would like to draw attention especially to the service of words and music for Holy Week which will take place at St Anne’s at 6pm on Palm Sunday (25th March).  In the past two years many people have remarked on the spiritual and emotional impact of this service as a preparation for the events of Holy Week and we would encourage you to join us there if you can.  We would also hope that more people this year will be able to participate in the services of Compline which will take place in St James’ Church at 7pm on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday of Holy Week.  Compline is a short, meditative service for the end of the day and through these quiet times together we can be helped to walk the path with Jesus towards his death and resurrection.

: Said Eucharist at St James’ Dingwall

As in the past two years, a special service of words and music to lead us into Holy Week will be held at St Anne’s Strathpeffer from 6pm on Palm Sunday. This has proved to be a very peaceful but moving introduction to the Holy Week story, so we hope it will again be well attended.  We will be using biblical readings, non-biblical readings, choir anthems and congregational hymns to illuminate the Holy Week themes.

During Holy Week itself the following services will take place –
